Going home together: His place or her place?

We recently had an email from a reader asking us to talk about choosing between the guy’s and girl’s place for a rendezvous. More specifically, after leaving together from a mutual location, ie. a bar or club.

Here are some of the factors we feel are important when deciding where to go after an evening out together.

Comfort

A huge part of getting in the right mood and escalating things into a fun, safe, and sexual environment is how comfortable you are in that situation. This is important to remember when deciding where to go when you “go home” with someone.

Typically, a woman is more comfortable in her own place as she feels more in control of the situation. The familiar surroundings will have her much more relaxed than across town in your pad – especially if you just met her for the first time. Additionally, they will feel more comfortable knowing they can ask you to leave whenever they want.

Proximity

No one enjoys spending $20 on a cab ride across town – unless you use it to check a location off your list – so if one person lives a couple blocks away it makes more sense to choose that venue.

The roommate factor

Roommates are definitely a factor when determining where to end your night together. If you have chosen your roommate well and gave ample notice then this will be less of an issue. If the option is available, we recommend choosing a location where the two of you can be alone.

Final answer

Guys, there’s a good chance you forgot to prepare your place before taking her home, so holding all variables constant, we recommend that you choose her location.

Of course if your place is closer, roommate free, or if she insists on going back to your place do not put up a fight.
